Most of our sculptures are made using 1.5mm mild steel sheet cut then hand moulded into shape. I find this the best balance of pliable but strong, being cold rolled it rusts beautifully outside. I start the sculptures with a robust frame of 6mm steel rod before building up the layers of steel sheet pieces. The rusting and weathering process of the metal can be sped up with some salt water, but also slowed with a thin layer of oil.
